The kids at Golden Valley High School have gone through all of these, and still are. They constantly win battles that they didn’t cause, and even the ones they did cause. No one understands anyone else, even if they’re going through the same thing. All of these kids are dealing with their problems differently, so no one really knows how well or how bad they’re doing. They need help, but who’s going to be the one to help them? The teachers don’t care what the kids do, as long as they get what they deserve in the end. The principal just suspends or expels the kids without warning. The security guards know which ones to stay away from, and the most dangerous aren’t bothered with, and cause the biggest threats to the school.

These kids go through this, too. Victoria Neilsen got pregnant freshman year, and currently has a set of three-year-old twins. Summer Lopez has been abused by her father for years. Wesley Jamison fought a battle of cancer, and won miraculously. Kevin Richardson might be the father of Victoria’s twins, but lets on that he cares nothing about the three of them. Jared James is Victoria’s current boyfriend, who may also be the father of the twins. Marcella Garcia has a two-month-old daughter, and misses school too often, but is barely passing. These six kids are the main kids of the school that people know about, for their popularity, their life stories, or even both. No one has the real story of these kids, but what they do have is pretty close, if they have anything at all.
